Camp Director - Drew Searl

Drew is the founder and director of East Meets West Lacrosse Camps & Clinics. Drew played 4 years of Division 1 lacrosse for Syracuse University in New York as a walk-on midfielder and graduated in 1999, a class that appeared in 4 NCAA Semi-Final Games and 1 NCAA National Championship. After graduating from Syracuse, Drew moved to Utah for 6 years and coached lacrosse at Judge Memorial Catholic HS. Over 7 seasons Drew, along with current head coach David Allen, took Judge to 4 State Championships, winning 2. While in Utah Drew also coached the U-15 and U-17 All-Star Teams and was honored with the US Lacrosse 2004 Coach of the Year award. Drew served as a director and coach for Nike Lacrosse and has coached numerous lacrosse camps and clinics all over the country and for many different programs. Drew Currently resides in Scottsdale AZ working with Guidant/Boston Scientific as Sales Rep in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.

Jim Beardmore
Jim, a legend in the sport of lacrosse, is the former Head Coach for the MLL's Denver Outlaws. Jim finished off the '07 MLL season with an 9-4 record and lead the Outlaws to their second consecutive Western Conference Championship Game. Jim is Currently the Head Coach for the Colorado Academy HS in Denver, Co. As a player, Jim re-wrote the books of how to play the goalie position. His style of goalie play revolutionized how the position was played and is the current model taught in today's game. As a Goalie for the Baltimore Thunder and the Washington Wave Jim was a 2-time All-Pro and played 6 years of Professional Indoor Lacrosse. Jim played the first half of games as a goalie and would return for the second half with a short stick and play midfield. At the University of Maryland Jim was a 1st Team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year. Jim was famous for never wearing a "chest protector" when playing goalie at Maryland, he was confident in his style of play and quick enough to stop shots with his stick. After graduating from Maryland the NCAA evaluated this and enacted the current rule that all players must wear all protective equipment at all times. Jim has been as far as Japan and Australia to coach lacrosse and is a former Director for Nike Lacrosse Camps. Prior to taking over as Head Coach of the Denver Outlaws, Jim was Head Coach of Severna Park High School in Maryland. In 3 years Jim took Severna park to 3 Maryland State Championships winning 2. Jim's father is the legendary lacrosse Hall of Fame coach "Bud" Beardmore who built the powerhouse lacrosse program at the University of Maryland where he won several National Championships.

Jesse Hubbard
Jesse is well known throughout the game as the best pure shooter the sport of lacrosse has ever seen, this is why he is a 1-time league MVP, a 5-time All-Pro and is the current reigning all-time leading goal scorer in MLL league history. Jesse, who spent his first seven seasons with the New Jersey Pride, also set the MLL single-season record by scoring 54 goals during the '02 season. Jesse is also the all-time leading goal scorer for Princeton University, where he was a 3-time All-American and won 3 National Championships. Jesse was a member of the '98 USA World Team and helped lead them to winning the '98 World Championship. Jesse is the head of all product development for Warrior Lacrosse and is a player for the Marin Lacrosse club.

Michael Watson
Michael played for the Boston Cannons from '01-'04 where he racked up an impressive resume being named an All-Pro twice and was named the Cannons team Offensive Player of the Year in '03. While with the Cannon's, he once scored 20 goals in a span of 4 games, which is the best four-game stretch in MLL league history. After leading the MLL's Boston Cannons to the Championship Game in '04, Inside Lacrosse Magazine dubbed Michael Watson as ‘The MLL’s Most Electrifying Player'. Michael officially retired from the MLL in '07 with the LA Riptide. In his finial year he lead the Riptide in goals and was once again named an MLL All-Pro. Michael was a member of the '02 USA World Team and helped lead the USA to winning the '02 World Championship. In college he was a standout at University of Virginia. While at UVA he racked up honors as a four-time All-American, '96 NCAA Attackman of the Year, Four-time All-ACC, MVP of the '96 NCAA Tourney and '94 ACC Rookie of the Year.

Taylor Simmers
Taylor is a former Major League Lacrosse attackman for the San Francisco Dragons. Before the MLL Taylor served several seasons as assistant coach at Princeton University under head coach Bill Tierney and helped coach the Tigers to a National Championship in 1998. Taylor also played his collegiate lacrosse for Princeton University. As a player at Princeton, Taylor was a 2-time Division 1 All-American attackman and won 2 NCAA National Championships. Taylor played attack for Team Germany in the 1998 World Games. Taylor is well known as being one of the best "feeders" in the sport of lacrosse, in fact at the 1998 World Games he recorded 11 assists in one game and holds the single game record for most assists in World competition.

Sean McCarthy
Sean is a Major League Lacrosse defenseman currently playing with the Denver Outlaws. Sean was the 5th overall pick in the 2006 MLL collegiate draft for the Outlaws. Sean was born and raised in Hicksville, New York and played his freshman and sophomore years at Nassau Community College on Long Island where he was a 1st team All-American defenseman and won the 2003 Junior College National Championship. After 2 years at Nassau, Sean transferred to Hofstra University for his junior and senior years and was named once again as an All American at defense.

Josh Sims
Josh is a 5-Time Major League Lacrosse All-Pro midfielder who played for the Baltimore Bayhawks from 2001 to 2005. Josh helped lead the Bayhawks to 2 MLL Championship victories in '02 and '05. Josh was traded from the Bayhawks this year and currently plays for the Denver Outlaws. Josh also plays Pro indoor lacrosse in the National Lacrosse League for the Colorado Mammoth. Josh played college at Princeton University and lead the Tigers to 2 National Championships in '97 and '98. Josh racked up an impressive career at Princeton where he was a 2-Time Midfielder of the Year, a 3-time Division I 1st Team All-American, the 2000 Ivy League Player of the Year, and the 2000 College Lacrosse USA Sportsman of the Year. Josh currently lives in Denver working for Warrior Lacrosse as the sales rep in the Mountain West.

Danny Larkin
Danny played his first 2 years of college lacrosse for DeSales University in Pennsylvania. As a starter on offense, Danny led all midfielders in both goals and assists and helped DeSales to a record number of wins in a single season. Danny along with twin brother Ricky transferred to Westminster College in Salt Lake to finish his last 2 years of college lacrosse. Danny leads the team in scoring as a starting midfielder at Westminster.

Ricky Larkin
Ricky is the twin brother of Danny and also spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at DeSales University in Pennsylvania. Ricky played attack for DeSales his freshman year but as a sophomore moved to the midfield and was starting along side his brother. After transferring to Westminster College in Salt Lake, Ricky has moved back to the attack position and is a starter for Westminster.

Stuart Allen
Stu is currently playing lacrosse for Gonzaga University where he is a starting Attackman. Stu is a local product of Salt Lake City. He played his high school lacrosse for Judge Memorial HS where he was a 4 year starter and helped lead them to the State Championship Game in '07. Stu is the son of Utah Hall of Fame Coach Dave Allen, the longtime successful coach at Judge Memorial HS. Stu is also a former long time attendee of the East Meets West Lacrosse Camp who has made it to the college level through hard work and determination. He is a good example of what this camp aims to provide for younger players, we are proud to have him back not as a camper, but as part of the camp staff.

Elliot Grow
Elliot is currently a star midfielder at BYU. So far at BYU Elliot has racked up an impressive resume being named the RMLC Offensive Player of the Year twice, a 2-Time All-American, and was a member of the '07 RMLC National Championship team. Elliot is a local product from Highland High School in Salt Lake City who used to attend the East Meets West Lacrosse Camp every summer. He is a prime example of what this camp aims to provide for young athletes that want to make it to the next level. Elliot was a pleasure to coach and we are proud to have him back as part of the staff so that he can give back to the younger generation of lacrosse players and pass along what he has learned on his journey from the High School game to the much faster and more competitive Collegiate game.

Joe Kostolansky
Joe played 5 seasons in Major League Lacrosse as an attackman with the Rochester Rattlers, Boston Cannons, and the San Francisco Dragons. Joe currently is the defensive coordinator for Arizona State University. In addition to his experience in the MLL, he brings 5 years of college coaching experience to the EMW Camp with previous jobs at Skidmore College (NY), Nazareth College (NY), and the University of Vermont. He served as an assistant coach at Vermont in '07 and '08 and in '06 he helped lead Nazareth to the ECAC Championship. Joe graduated from Hofstra University in '05 where he was a 2-Time 1st Team All-Conference Attackman and served as team captain his senior year.
